Welcome to the Peach State Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) at Kennesaw State University website. KSU offers two different LSAMP programs:
LSAMP - Kennesaw
LSAMP - Marietta
PSLSAMP is a collaborative effort sustained by a coalition of higher education institutions
in Georgia to significantly increase the number of underrepresented minority students
statewide who complete undergraduate degrees in science, technology, engineering,
and mathematics (STEM) fields. This goal will be accomplished through the implementation
of a comprehensive and integrated series of recruitment and retention initiatives
that address key transition points from undergraduate recruitment through preparation
for graduate school. The promotion of undergraduate research will be a key component
of the comprehensive strategies implemented.
PSLSAMP is a National Science Foundation (NSF) sponsored program with the mission to significantly increase the number of underrepresented minorities pursuing degrees Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Our Peach State Alliance consists of the following institutions:
- University of Georgia*
- Ft. Valley State University
- Georgia Institute of Technology
- Georgia State University Perimeter College
- Kennesaw State University -- Kennesaw Campus
- Kennesaw State University -- Marietta Campus (formally Southern Polytechnic State University)
- Savannah State University
With a student focus in mind, each institution provides services that assist underrepresented minorities with the transition from high school to college, integrate them socially and academically into the university environment, and engage them in research and summer internship opportunities. In an effort to meet the needs and expectations of the underrepresented minorities in STEM, Peach State LSAMP provides services such as academic enrichment, financial support, peer and faculty mentoring, research opportunities, and summer bridge programs.
